Job Description and Key Responsibilities including Virtual/Remote Expectations: This position may be done remotely approximately 25% of the time. Research and propose improvements to website information provided to commuters and off campus students. Review data from various campus surveys regarding the student life experience of commuters and off campus students. Research best practices on how colleges and universities provide services to off campus students and commuters (reference NASPA and other professional organizations as well). Work with Assistant Dean of Students and others to assess the needs and experiences of commuters and off campus students, review existing data. Collaborate with Student Association (SA) on efforts to inform students of community housing options. Work with Office of the Dean of Students (ODS) and the Student Association (SA) on ways to share with students information about tenants rights in NYS. In collaboration with ODS staff, work with local agencies and campus offices on outreach to off campus students. Attend community event, task force meetings to be informed of community issues that may impact off campus students and commuters. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Students, support existing efforts (by community groups, associations, town/city committees) that focus on improving neighbor relationships. This may include attending meetings, collaborating on articles and outreach. Determine ways that the office/staff can be involved in order to monitor off campus issues and ways that ODS can be part of community relations efforts. Provide resource listing for students including legal aid staff. When needed, provide referral information to local legal aid offices and/ or the Student Association attorney. Liaise with Student Association leaders to work on ways to engage off campus and commuter students. Support efforts to organize fairs or other events specifically addressing the needs of commuters and off campus students including off campus housing fair. Support all ODS services and programs (Outreach, programs development). Serve on campus committees coordinated by the ODS staff. Help to develop promotional and marketing materials and assist with outreach and programming events held by ODS (tabling, coordinating meetings or training events). Support ODS functions (attend meetings, events, office hours, communication plans, and work as needed with other student workers and volunteers).

Expectations The GA will report to the Assistant Dean of Students- Student Outreach and Support, and will attend regular one-on-one meetings with supervisor Will attend Student Affairs and ODS staff meetings and training events Maintain good working relationships with staff, faculty, and students Participate in Divisional leadership training or other professional development as schedule allows Serve as liaison with student organizations and student leaders Attend meetings and campus programs as directed Support College policies and guidelines Demonstrate professionalism Maintain confidentiality in a student-centered office
