Job Description and Key Responsibilities, including Virtual/Remote Expectations:

The GA will follow an established protocol to complete OLS’ peer tutor observations. This protocol includes:

  • Attending GST308 (6, 2-hour class meetings, Fridays 3pm-5pm)
  • Scheduling observations for all new tutors (approximately 40) through TracCloud, Gmail and Google Calendar
  • Observing all new tutors and recording the results using the Tutor Observation Form
  • Meeting with each tutor briefly to discuss the observation results
  • Digitally filing observation results via Google drive and sharing with the tutor
  • Assist with semesterly tutor training events

The position has variable hours which the GA will manage on their own. The GA must attend GST308 in-person, observe tutors in-person and provide individual feedback in-person. Most tutor observations will occur between 3pm and 8pm. Additional work hours spent scheduling observations, maintaining records, and
typing observations results may be completed remotely. The position would be best suited for a student with a future in non-obtrusive observations. Majors such as School Psychology, School Counseling, Special Education and Mental Health Counseling are best aligned with this assistantship.

List any Learning Outcomes related to the GAs Academic Program:

  •  The GA will be able to identify and list traits of both effective and ineffective tutoring.
  • The GA will observe peer tutor sessions by both listening and watching. The GA will use an established instrument to record the events of the session and share the feedback with the tutor both digitally and verbally.
  • The GA will schedule, record, store, organize and share tutor observations using the Google Apps, TracCloud and Adobe Acrobat.
