CONTEXT OF THE JOB: Under the direction of Residence Life and Housing, Assistant Hall Directors (AHDs) work within their assigned residential areas to create living environments that facilitate positive learning experiences in communities and support the academic mission of SUNY Oswego. AHDs play key roles in the Department of Residence Life and Housing (RLH) and the broader campus community. AHDs provide leadership to paraprofessional staff and student leaders; partner with students to develop vibrant, inclusive communities which encourage student engagement, community contributions, a free exchange of ideas, and the cultivation of skills and knowledge so that students may become citizens and leaders in our increasingly global society. Assistant Hall Directors live on campus and are therefore available to staff and students outside of regular business hours during crises or other critical times. RESPONSIBILITIES Student Engagement:

Effective interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to motivate, develop, direct, and train assigned staff, including coordinating and supervising work. Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively prioritize competing needs.Any restrictions to the type of student who would be eligible? Available to work August 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024. Live in assigned housing, work nights and weekends. A graduate student RLH will pay nine credits of In-state, non-MBA tuition per semester. Training for the spring semester starts January 2nd. What behavioral expectations do you have? For example, what is your preferred communication timeline for a GA who needs to call out sick? Attend all departmental meetings unless it is a conflict with class. Hold their posted office hours. Notify their supervisors and place it on the absentee calendar if they can not be at work.
