    Job Description and Key Responsibilities including Virtual/Remote Expectations:
    50% Remote work available.

    The Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations (OWEIR) Instructor Bootcamp graduate assistant will work in the OWIER supporting programs, services, and grants with a focus on the SUNY Oswego Instructor Bootcamp program.

    This is a 10 hour per week assistantship for the Spring 2024 semester that will be performed in a hybrid manner. Duties require in-person work at both the 121 E. 1st Street office in Oswego and offsite work is required, but can be done completed virtually.

    The OWIER provides a designated point of entry into SUNY Oswego for industry, non-profit, public, private, and community partners to connect with institutional assets. Partnerships formed will generate economic and social benefits for the region that align with the priorities and vision of SUNY Oswego and will contribute to the long-term, sustainable vitality of the university and the Central New York region.
     
    The Office of Workforce Innovation and External Relations (OWIER) provides a designated point of entry into SUNY Oswego for industry, non-profit, public, private, and community partners to connect with institutional assets. Partnerships formed will generate economic and social benefits for the region that align with the priorities and vision of SUNY Oswego and contribute to the long-term, sustainable vitality of the university and the Central New York region.

    The OWIER is structured around three pillars of focus: 1) Workforce Innovation and Upward Mobility, 2) Government and Legislative Affairs, and 3) Community Impact Programs and Resources.

    The OWIER serves to: contribute to the economic development of the region while advancing SUNY Oswego’s Vision 4040 and its institutional priorities and goals; assist in the identification and creation of external grant applications that align with institutional workforce innovation priorities; help inform the creation of non-credit and credit-bearing programs based on current and future high-demand industry trends; provide appropriate programming to support workforce innovation; and collaborate with SUNY Oswego’s relevant vice presidents and deans to support student and faculty engagement with community partners.

    The Graduate Assistant will have these key responsibilities:

    • Assisting with programming and event management
    • Support the gathering and processing of materials for Instructor Bootcamp
    • User support for learning management software for Instructor Bootcamp
    • Social media/marketing for Instructor Bootcamp
    • Other duties as assigned


    Expectations for Graduate Assistantship:

    • The GA for Instructor Bootcamp will report to the Program Coordinator for Instructor Bootcamp and attend weekly one on one meetings, OWIER team meetings, and OWIER and Instructor Bootcamp events as the schedule permits
    • Follows SUNY Oswego policies and guidelines
    • Demonstrate professionalism and is able to effectively work independently
    • Occasional evening hours may be required
    • Comfortable with communicating and networking with external partners and stakeholders

    • Currently enrolled full time in a graduate or certificate program
    •  Must have reliable transportation to the Syracuse Campus in downtown Syracuse and the OWEIR office (121 E. First Street) in the City of Oswego

    Will communicate on a regular basis with supervisor and staff about schedule and any absences.
