What is the date that the review process will start for applicants? 4/22/2025What is the date you will make a final decision regarding the selection of the candidate for this position? 6/15/2025Job Description and Key Responsibilities including Virtual/Remote Expectations: Communications Support Graduate Assistant for C&I Advisement Office - The Graduate Assistant will collect information, draft, edit, revise and publish advisement newsletter, information and event communications to share electronically (newsletter, email, social media); will maintain social media accounts to ensure timely information to students. The Graduate Assistant will assist to coordinate and update faculty/department webpages, reviewing faculty webpages for accessibility, consistency, accuracy and purpose to make recommendations for updates. This assistant will work directly with the advisement coordinator and may interact with other offices on campus. This assistant will assist with advising undergraduate students, maintain regular academic advisement office hours and maintain records electronically. The Graduate Assistant will provide Advisory Workshop(s) for undergraduate students on timely topics such as Registration; NYS Learning Standards; Teacher Certification Exams; Block One Group Advisement; the Teacher Certification Application process; Adding Certifications; and using Tk20/Watermark (SOE electronic portfolio system). List any Learning Outcomes related to the GAs Academic Program: Learning outcomes for this position include professional and soft skills such as: communication skills; teamwork; problem solving; leadership; interpersonal skills; adaptability; work ethic; time management and attention to detail. This position provides an opportunity to work with students and faculty in a professional setting, as well as planning and organizing toward specific goals.Any restrictions to the type of student who would be eligible? Must be accepted to a Graduate Program. Student should have prior experience creating or updating webpages, and a fair comfort level with technology. Student with working general knowledge of NY State Teacher Certification preferred, though not required.What behavioral expectations do you have? For example, what is your preferred communication timeline for a GA who needs to call out sick? Behavioral expectations include a positive and professional standard of presentation; maintaining a regular schedule and office hours to meet with students; contact supervisor directly by phone and/or email for sick call (allowing for communication about rescheduling student appointments and shifting important or timely tasks to others).
