    Tuition per semester: $3,500
    Stipend per semester: $3,500 (can be increased equal to reductions in tuition requested)

    Job Description and Key Responsibilities including Virtual/Remote Expectations:
    25% remote work available with this position.

    Graduate Assistant - Student Success 
    New Student Transition Services (75%)

    • Schedule meetings with incoming students and families to assist with any questions or concerns they might have as they transition into the SUNY Oswego community. 
    • Conduct proactive outreach to incoming students through phone calls, web-based meetings, and other methods to provide personalized assistance to ease their transition to SUNY Oswego.
    • Represent the office of Student Orientation and Family Engagement with interdepartmental engagements. Including, but not limited to: tabling efforts, program execution, and educational presentations via webinar & seminar.

    Student Orientation and Success Programming (25%)

    • Co-teach GST 304 - a general studies course consisting of Orientation Leaders - with the Coordinator - Student Orientation and Success
    • Aid in the execution of Student Success Programming, including but not limited to Letters From Home, Late Night Breakfast, and Bowling Programs
    • Assist the department in the execution of the Summer Orientation program (including both the SUNY Oswego campus program, Syracuse Orientation, and the Downstate Orientation program), providing programmatic and preparatory support
    • Aid in the hiring process of various student staff positions including but not limited to Laker Leaders and START Mentors
    • Serve in an on-call rotation during Summer Orientation program dates, responding to concerns as necessary.
    • Contribute to the accomplishment of strategic goals of the department, division, and university through committee involvement and by completing other tasks, as assigned.

    This position reports to the Coordinator - Student Orientation and Success, with indirect supervisory responsibilities held by the Coordinator - Student and Family Transitions.

    Any restrictions to the type of student who would be eligible?
    Must be available to work: Fall/Spring: August 1st, 2025 - May 31st, 2026
    Work nights and weekends in their capacity as a transition support provider.

    GA's should communicate with their supervisors whatever it is they need to be successful. GA's are expected to remain in close communication with their supervisors to ensure that the whole team is aware of their needs/availability.
