SUNY Oswego requires you to have a minimum GPA to complete the internship/co-op (Usually the minimum requirement is a 2.5 GPA but it may defer depending on the major). Please confirm the following;
Please confirm that you have been registered full-time for at least one academic year (Fall and Spring) AND your internship will take place in the United States.
The entire Internship authorization process can take 2–4 weeks and ALL applicants must not start the internship before they get authorized from the ISSS Office. Unauthorized employment could result in I-20 termination and international students would need to leave the U.S.
The primary purpose of an F-1 visa is to study in the U.S. Thus, any internship you participate in as an F-1 visa holder must be approved by the International Student and Scholar Services Office and off-campus internships must be formally noted as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) on your Form I-20 before you can begin participating in your training experience in the U.S.
Note that it takes the entire Internship authorization process can take 2–4 weeks so please plan accordingly.
